These photos were taken today at Long Bridge at the head of the Chequamegon Bay.
The Sibley Guide to Birds describes the American Bittern as follows: "These secretive, cryptically colored marsh birds are unique among herons in being more easily heard than seen. They move slowly through dense marsh grass....at an agonizingly slow gait."

So I Googled gilly suit & damn you, you were correct, sir. But since it's a Marine expression, I won't be able to use it. So, to me, you will just be a camouflaged Bostonite lurching through a field crying "Here birdie, here." Oh, the black squirrel is safe, for now. Oh, oh - great pics, man. Your day was way better than mine.
The camouflage of this bird is incredible. Great picture!
