Family, friends, food and drink.

Family, friends, food and drink. Shrimp (JUMBO that is), venison, potatoes, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes and onion. Gin & tonic with a twist of lime. Margaritas with a touch of salt. Three generations of friends including twins. Two artists both with left political leanings. A wife and sister to boot. Watermelon for dessert. What a great way to spend a Saturday evening.

Foraging ant on Trumpet Vine.

These photos were taken in my back yard. The Trumpet Vine has always been one of my favorite. It was one of my grandmothers favorite. Every time it flowers I'm transported back 50 years to 16 Wildwood Avenue.

The view(s) from a porch.

The ice cream man on wheels. Imagine my surprise when the tune playing over the loud speaker was... "Oh Holy Night".... Go figure. It must be a religious experience to eat ice cream it this part of the world.

Here is the chapter and verse.

Out for a short walk before supper.

Hey Dad who's that strange guy on our porch?

A family's outing on the Flambeau River.

This Illinois family was spending the day fishing on the Flambeau River.

Dad was teaching the youngster to fish.

With Mom's help.

This guy is from Wisconsin. He has a great cast. But otherwise he needs practice with his fish guiding skills and he definitely needs some sun for those white legs.

My Dad taught me to fish. Dandelions.

Traffic Hazard?

This Black Bear caused the re-routing of traffic on a section of US Hwy 2 in Ashland. The DNR and local police decided to re-route the traffic to "encourage' the bear to leave the tree. Several hours later the bear was was still in the tree and traffic was re-routed. Note the claw marks on the tree trunk.
