We went Elk hunting today. Clam Lake Wisconsin.

We took a ride to Clam Lake Wisconsin. We tried to get an Elk in the crosshairs viewfinder.
Clam Lake Elk Herd.

This is as close as we got to anything with antlers.

Earlier in the day we stopped at Perch Lake campground. This photo was shot from the boat launch. The campground was empty and very peaceful.

It's going to be a couple of days (180-200) before there will be any fly fishing in this part of the country.

Well if it's going to be ice lets get going if I can't fly fish then ice fishing will do just fine.

This small walking bridge and waterfall was the only photographic opportunity we saw along Highway 77 west of Clam Lake. No Elk, no birds, little or no wildlife.

Bayfield County WI fishing.

Somedays of fishing are just better than others. Today was great fishing out of my new boat. Caught 12 largemouth bass. Put 9 or 10 on the stringer so I could get some pictures (for Skip). All the fish were quickly returned to the lake. The largest was 19". All of the fish on the stringer were over 15".

I hooked at least one that wasn't quite ready to pose for a photo. When I set the hook I thought I might have a great photo-op ahead.  As soon as the fish saw the boat (the nice new boat) it turned tail, fins, gills and all and never slowed down. It straighten my snap swivel on the way out and returned itself to the lake.

Great evening of fishing.

It doesn't get much better than this.

Loaded and ready to go.

New "boat". A great fishing platform for small water fishing.

Finally the right "boat" for small water fishing. Comfortable, plenty of storage space, anchor system, stripping basket, light and transportable.  Thanks J.M. for making it happen. Thanks to T.I. for the photo.

A little camping and a quick fly tying lesson. Whip finishing. Thanks E & T. for some fun camping.

Find the boat here.

A little work and little play in between the rain drops.

A little quiet time.

Slightly undersize walleye. Less than 15". Returned to the waters.

Largemouth Bass. A legal length of 17". Out of season. Returned to the waters.

Common Snapping Turtle.  Enjoying lunch. Rock Bass was the only menu choice. LEFT ALONE..... because!...........

.......... I really like my fingers and toes. Second half of lunch soon to be gone.
