Cold, snowy and blowing. A view from inside.

Setup and ready to fish.

Close quarters. All the essentials. Vexilar, waxies, shinners, coffee and of course fish. This perch is what we like to see come up through the ice. This is what I would call a "jumbo".  At least for Chequamegon Bay over the last few years.

A view to the Southwest. The Oredock and Chequamegon Hotel.

Sunset as seen from inside the T-P.

Sunset over Barksdale WI.
The more I look at this photo the more I like it.

And this photo.

The nicest Christmas present I have ever received.

Thank you Kara. Gramma is proud of you. Your present is what Christmas is about. I will hang the original where I can see it everyday. Someday I will sit down with you and your picture and tell you about my memories of my home.

Kara this is the house that my mom, your Gramma, grew up in. This is exactly how I remember it. Someday we will sit down with this picture and I will tell you about all the great memories I have of spending time at my Gramma's house. You can still see this building at 16 Wildwood Ave. You can only see this home by looking at this piece of art. I will tell you about playing in the yard. Getting wet in the creek. Eating grapes from the grape vines. And skating on the bog in the winter.

Kara someday in not to many years (in old people time) it will be your piece of art that will contain the memories of the home at 245 Williams Street.

This adult Bald Eagle was watching over a deer carcass along Hwy. 70 east of Fifield WI.

Right time right place with a camera within arms reach. It nice to get a chance to photograph some wildlife. It's been a long winter.

Childhood memories revisited. Camp Clark.

Waterfront and swimming beach.

Flag pole and chow hall. I finally got to share this memory with my son Scott. I hope it's not the last time we spend time at Camp Clark. For more of these memories visit my Camp Clark blog site.

Same flag post and chow hall circa 1958. That's me front row 5th from the right.

The second cabin from the left. Is my first summer "home away from home cabin".

Fire ring.

Boathouse and swimming beach. I "helped build" this boat house. At least I help nail down the upper level floor.

We do love to fish.

My dad would have loved to have had an opportunity to fish with "number 6". I sure do.

Male Calico Pennant dragonfly (see below) on our second most favorite lake. Sawdust Bayfield County WI.

Update: Via Ryan Brady the ID on the dragonfly is a male Calico Pennant.
I think rather than referring to Ryan as "the bird guy" I'm going to refer to him as "the winged guy". It seems if it has wings he knows about it. Thanks Ryan!

A lake I (we) love to fish.

This is one of my favorite spots in this part of the country. It's a small lake, not well known, nice fishing, no "wall hangers", and peaceful.

First bass on a new 3wt flyrod. This is an example of the cookie cutter size, near legal size large mouth bass we often catch. In years of fishing this lake we've never caught a legal size bass. But the fishing experience is still great.

It the kind of spot where you can forget the troubles of the day and relax. A place where there never seems to be anything hanging over your head....unless of course you bring Stretch and Mrs. Stretch along on the fishing trip.

The Shrek alternative.

While Mom, Dad, big sister and big sister's friend were off at the movies (Shrek III) we enjoy a couple of hours hanging out with our young buddy.

Heading to the top of the slide.

Now that was fun!

It's hard work cutting the grass and it takes a maximum effort.

American Avocet.

For more information visit here.

Update: 05/22/07 the Avocet was on Westend beach at noon and at 16:00 today. Here are several more photos taken today.

This is a pose this bird would maintain for 3-5 minutes at at time. At first I thought it was preening but later I felt it might be a resting pose. Anyone know? Ryan? Tim?
