Sunday afternoon at Mt. Ashwabay. Ski racing and visiting with old friends.

Scott headed up for another run.

The years pass but Kathy never seems to get any older. She can still beat almost everyone else on the hill when it come to Sunday racing.

Tim can still turn in a great time. This run 27:29 sec.

Scott enjoying the day.

The sun tried to breakout in the late afternoon.  I set out today to take some outdoor picture. Outdoor sunny picture. I'm glad I had a "high speed" camera because the sun did not hang around for long. Still turned out to be a fun day.

The moon sure put on a great show at the end of the day.

A good day of fishing on Chequamegon Bay.

Sunny day, deep snow and great moments of fish biting everywhere. If you had the touch or were lucky to have a fishing buddy who did you went home with fish.

One of the many plowed roads that lead somewhere on the bay. In this case due east toward the break wall.

Cohos for dinner?

Winter visited a few days ago.

8 to 10 inches of snow on the deck.

31 years of snow blowing with this John Deere 826.

Same route with each and every storm. Backyard, south on the alley, sidewalks, front walks,  mailmen's path.

I like to snow blow.

Through the kitchen window (ttkw).

This is the first time we have seen this female Cardinal at this feeder. My guess is all of the other feeders have 6"- 8" of snow on them. The male Cardinal is close by. I have seen him several times over the last few days. Hopefully he will get close enough and sit long enough so I can get his picture.

A little Christmas HO! HO! HO!.

We joined friends and their kids for a little outdoor Christmas spirt. A story reading by Carol Seago for the youngsters. Campfire, hot chocolate, cookies and a couple of choruses of Jingle Bells. Hot coffee and cookies for the adults.

How about a little Jingle Bells.

It was a day to stay inside.

These photos were taken out of our kitchen window.

It isn't camping weather. It's John Deere green machine weather.

This and the photo below were taken by my wife Donna with the new 7D Canon. Oh! ya!.. and she was also the videographer on the video below.

The Little Guy is tucked in for winter.

If ONLY.. it went this fast in real time. 2 minutes 15 second.. DONE!

First winter storm 2010.

What a difference 24 hours makes. See the post below. Yesterday was warm and calm along the waterfront. Today was not.

It wasn't a blizzard but it's no longer summer.

Scavengers on the ice. Eagle, Ravens and Coyote.

The eagle was the least aggressive. It stood back and watched until the Ravens had eaten all of the bait fish I left on the ice.

This guy was getting more than his share of the minnows.

The Coyote was determined to find something worth eating.

Overnight camping trip to Medford WI. Saturday A.M. travel.

We decided to cut our weekend camping trip a little short. Although we did spend a very comfortable warm night in the camper once we were off the road. Finding a spot to park was quite an adventure. An early snow storm made camping in a state, county, city or private camp ground a little more difficult than planned.

With the weather forecast projecting additional snow and with the option of heading south to the gulf coast for the winter out of the question. We decided to head north to home.

We enjoyed our overnight adventure and have decided to set a new goal in our retired (semi) life. Our goal for this winter is to camp at least one night each month between now and June 30, 2010 in the camper. With a little planning I think we can do it.

Anyone have a heated garage we can pull the camper into for the January-March adventures?

If not could someone remind me.....what are the signs of early onset frost bite?

It should be an adventure.

The snow line on Saturday was just south of Mellen. From Abbotsford to Mellen we drove through snow and slush. The night before left a half a dozen cars in the ditch.

Baywatch!

Here we are April 23, 2008 and the ice is still in the bay. At least 2 days late. It's usually out by April 21.

There is some open water which is a welcome site.

Push ice as it's called in these parts.

Push ice is a common sight at this time of the year near Westend beach. As the ice breaks up in the bay it moves in and out depending on the wind direction. If the wind is from the north, northeast it pushes the ice to the south shore of the bay where it piles up.

Ok! So it's not quite Spring yet.

Front yard view.

Backyard view up the alley to the North.

Backyard view down the alley to the South.

This use to be our screen room. At least for today it is the snow room. The snow is so wet and the winds are so high that the screens have all been coated with a layer of snow that is completely blocking the view of the front yard.

Well the tools are all safely stored away back in the shop. Schools have been cancelled everywhere in Northern Wisconsin and the winter storm is still moving across our region.

For now we are enjoying the "free"(no school) day we have. Time to put on a fresh pot of coffee and stare out the windows.
