Today (03/05/2013) we went to Dan's funeral. 

The first hymn The Old Rugged Cross  has life long meaning to me. It was my grandmother's favorite hymn and in my minds eye was this cross at the top of this hill at the camp I went to starting at age seven.

The years pass but Kathy never seems to get any older. She can still beat almost everyone else on the hill when it come to Sunday racing.

The sun tried to breakout in the late afternoon.  I set out today to take some outdoor picture. Outdoor sunny picture. I'm glad I had a "high speed" camera because the sun did not hang around for long. Still turned out to be a fun day.

The moon sure put on a great show at the end of the day.

Winter visited a few days ago.

8 to 10 inches of snow on the deck.

31 years of snow blowing with this John Deere 826.

Yesterday was our 42nd wedding anniversary. We enjoyed the day at home. We ate at the our favorite restaurant (home). Enjoying our favorite menu selection. Sixth Street Market steak,shrimp, mushrooms pea pods and baked potato..

We prepared for the day and the treat (calories) by walking a 5K Run/Walk race.  Today we need to walk off the desert and get back on the better health program.

This young lady set an amazing record. She is the 5th generation of the family line to have shot a buck while hunting at the family hunting shack.

We treated ourselves to shrimp and Lake Superior White Fish.

Jumbo shrimp & Lake Superior Whitefish seasoned and broiled with a brown rice and quinoa side dish.

Went for a walk this morning. Visited Ed on the way home.

Fall is quickly approaching. Went for a morning walk today. Stop and visited Ed at the tunnel.

A 20+ years tradition. Easter party 2012 edition. How we spent our Easter.

Thanks to Andy and Linda for inviting us to their Easter Day party. Although they are "not counting" we were happy that we finally joined this great day of fun.

 It is a truly unique Easter celebration. Giant rabbit and all. The kids loved it. The adults loved it. And the hosts were the biggest kids in the crowd.

A busy weekend of activity on Chequamegon Bay. Fishing and the Book. Est. 3000 people on the bay.

Fishing earlier in the day. These photos were taken by the Mrs. They were taken from shore at a distance  of 1.1 miles with a Canon 7D and a Canon 100-400 telephoto. To those who know the bay note the Tetzner's Farm silos in the upper left of the picture. These silos have been used for years as navigational aides for determining one's location. Together with other key landmarks along the Ashland shoreline and the lighthouse "old timers" found their favor fishing spots. With the advent of hand held GPS units they are only used to cross check the GPS.

If you look close you can make out me sitting next to the 4 wheeler watching the fish finder (black spot 'under' the truck between me and the front wheel in this 2D photo. Pretty cool photo definition taken from 1.1 miles away.

Today was sunny and windy on Chequamegon Bay.

4th fishing trip on the bay this year. The ice is thick enough to drive cars and trucks. At this spot there is about 30 feet of water under the snowmobile.

A view inside an ice fishing shack. From left to right the propane heater, plywood to keep feet warm , water cooler with the bait,  9" hole with rod and reel and gear bucket with the fish finder on top. The heater does a good job keeping you warm so you can fish without a coat and gloves. The fish finder.... well maybe not exactly a finder. It does "tell you" when there are fish below. With the right winter gear it can be very comfortable out on the ice.
