Three days on Duluth's North Shore.

Choice campsite at the "D&D Campground". We always enjoy our visit with our Duluth friends. This choice site is their front yard and this is the view(s) they see everyday.

One of the 3-5 ship we saw pass each day.

Great Lake Ship.

Three masted 'four sail' ship.

When seen together the sailing ship seems fairly large. Ok here is a guess. Based on the person on deck being an estimated 6 feet. I make the boat length to be 48 feet. Any photo analysts in the viewing audience?

A special thanks to D & D for a fun few days.  As always.

John J. Boland in port Ashland WI. November 12, 2010. Unloading video.

This self-unloading lake bulk carrier was built by the Bay Shipbuilding Co., Sturgeon Bay, WI and launched March 10, 1973 for the American Steamship Co, Buffalo, NY. as the Charles E. Wilson. In January 2000 the Wilson was renamed John J. Boland. That year while at Fraser Shipyards in Superior for lay-up crews welded the new name on the vessel. The name change followed the sale of the former John J. Boland to Lower Lakes Towing, Port Dover, ON; now sailing as the Saginaw.
