Snowy Owl. Hunting for prey.
The photo above shows the snowy striking it's prey.
This series of shots (above) were taken on 01/05/06. They show the snowy owl striking a small mammal from on wing. Killing it and in subsequent shots eating the prey. All of the shots were taken under extreme low light conditions at dusk from a half of a 40 acre field away. The shots are grainy and were all enhanced in Photoshop.
In flight from field (above) to tree perch (below). Crossing Sanborn Ave. west to east.
This Snowy was spotted south of Ashland on Sanborn Ave. between Hegstrom Rd and Wakefield (Thanks to Ryan Brady for tip).
