A "trip" to the diners.....let me explain.

In the top photo is the Delta Diner located in Delta WI. It is hard to describe it's location in this small northern Wisconsin town, but to get to the Delta Diner you must drive 10-12 miles along two lane county roads. Forest, fields, streams, ponds, lakes and wildlife, mile after mile..... Northern Wisconsin at it's finest. Then wham, civilization! Well, at least a small slice of civilization......The Delta Diner. Make the trip. The location is great. The food is the best you can find in say, 10 to 12 miles. Ask to meet Billy. He's the local. He's the historian. He's the guy they named the breakfast dish after.

Now to some fond memories.



I also took another "trip" today to another time and another place, my home town Taunton MA. It was a pleasant memory trip to Hickey's Diner, a place where my Dad would take me for a steamed hot dog some 45-50 years ago.....usually on Saturdays for lunch. It was part of a Saturday morning routine. I would ride to work with my Dad early on Saturday mornings. He would go the the Taunton Daily Gazette newspaper for a half day shift. I would walk the two blocks to the local YMCA to swim, shoot pool and "horse around". At noon I would meet my Dad and we would walk to Hickey's for a hot dog or to the fish market for clam chowder. What a great memory, brought on by the trip to the Delta Diner.

To Billycreek's coldh2o who's moaning by now, it's a memory like say, turning around in downtown Washburn to buy a cap gun and caps. Smile and enjoy it.
