Common Snapping Turtle
This Common Snapping Turtle was crossing WI Hwy. 13 (south of the White River) . When I came across the turtle it was straddling the center line and heistating with each passing car. I helped it cross and took this picture. It was only when I had driven away that it occured to me that there was no body of water within 1.5 to 2.0 miles (White River). I have no idea what this critter was doing this far from water.
